Brocades, Belts & Buckles

(130)  WAFFEN SS OFFICER'S BROCADE BELT WITH A WELL-HALLMARKED, ALUMINUM BUCKLE.

Very rare, ORIGINAL, Waffen SS officer's brocade belt, with a well-detailed, aluminum buckle. The verso of the round, aluminum, officer's buckle is maker-stamped ( "OLC" ), and "RZM" marked also ( Photo ). The "matching" aluminum "keeper" is not marked. The brocade belt is richly decorated with alternating oakleaves and double SS runes in a "jacard" style ( Photo ). The brocade is backed with faintly ribbed, green wool Gabardine ( Photos ). ( The "fake" SS brocade belts are ALL backed with a thick, green velvet ). The thin, brown leather tab is size-stamped "100" ( cm.); which is approximately 39.5 inches ( Photo ). The rear of the brocade has two small PERIOD-done horizontal "slits", about six inches apart; almost certainly done by the SS officer to serve as homemade, or "jury-rigged" buttonholes, for the two vent buttons at the rear of his SS tunic ( Photos ). This would have been done to keep the belt from sliding down, as all of these brocade belts were notoriousy prone to: because these formal, dress brocades were never designed to be "cinched-up" tightly. These slits are definitely "period" cut, barely noticible, and not at all detractive.

A RARE, ORIGINAL SS OFFICER'S BROCADE BELT IN A VERY DESIRABLE SIZE.

(135)  VERY RARE "DLV", or "RLSV", OFFICER'S BROCADE BELT AND BUCKLE.

ORIGINAL "DLV" ( Deutscher Luftsports Verband ), or "RLSV", OFFICER'S brocade dress belt with ultra-rare, early ( circa 1935 ) "first pattern" round, DLV silver buckle. Introduced in early 1935, this brocade and buckle combination was intended for wear by DLV officers, up to the rank of general. The brocade itself is 47 mm. wide and faced in the same aluminum wire pattern, which would LATER become the standard brocade for all "regular" LUFTWAFFE officers. The brocade is backed in a very fine, lightly ribbed, grey Gabardine wool, and has the "early", deluxe "hook & eye" fastening arrangement ( Photo ). The 46 mm. diameter, round aluminum buckle displays the uniquely "DLV" style eagle and swastika, with the STRAIGHT wings, the distinctive "HEART-SHAPED" eagle's chest, and the BLACK- PAINTED swastika ( Photos ). The eagle's head is facing to its LEFT ( Photo ). NOTE: These features distinquish this RARE buckle from the ( almost EQUALLY RARE ) first type "RLB" officer's belt buckle. The buckle has virtually 100 % of its "painted" aluminum finish, and grades as near mint to MINT. The verso of the buckle is unmarked. The overall condition of this VERY RARE, "DLV/RLSV" brocade is EXCELLENT plus to near MINT. I would estimate the size @ 100 cm.

A "MINTY" BROCADE, AND RARE "DLV"/"RLSV" BUCKLE; IN NEAR MINT CONDITION.

2.25 X 2.0 in. oval, bright silvered aluminum, buckle with an oakleaf wreath surround, and a "pebbled" center, bearing a bright gold Luftwaffe eagle in the so-called "droop-tail" pattern, circa 1935 ( Photo ). The gold LW eagle is attached by a single hollow rivet, visible on the verso ( Photo ). The verso of the wreath has the stamped maker's logo, "OLC", within a diamond-shaped lozenge ( Photo ). The "matching" silvered-aluminum "keeper" is still present ( Photos ). This RARE, stunningly MINT buckle comes with most of the its "LDO" marked, ORIGINAL "cellophane", factory issue packet ( Photo ).

(139)  NAZI STATE FORESTRY OFFICIAL'S RARE "BLACK" OVAL BUCKLE AND BROWN LEATHER SERVICE BELT.

This 50 mm. wide, brown, carriage-leather belt has the RARE, "BLACK" ( burnished ) oval buckle, with a "raised" eagle & swastika, surrounded by an oakleaf wreath ( Photo ). The verso of the black-burnished aluminum, oval buckle is stamped, "A", for "Assman & Sohn" ( Photo ). The light-tan leather tab is not size-marked, but I would estimate the size at 90 cm. The brown, carriage-leather belt is still supple, and in EXCELLENT condition, with no significant "scuffing", or "gouges" ( Photos ).

(141)  WWII KRIEGSMARINE ( ADMIN. ) OFFICER'S BROCADE DRESS BELT W/ ALUM. BUCKLE.

WWII era, German Kriegsmarine officer's brocade dress belt, with the silvered aluminum buckle, for a "Land Administrative" naval officer. The brocade dress belt is 50 mm. wide, and made of a "ribbed" heavy silver "tresse", which is decorated with two interrupted, parallel/horizontal, 5mm. wide black lines ( Photos ). The brocade is backed with a black wool felt, and this example has the "hook & grommet" system of closure ( Photo ). The brightly silvered, 57 mm. diameter, round aluminum buckle has the same "fouled anchor" motif, which was first adopted for use by the Weimar-era German Navy in 1921. The buckle is not maker-marked. The heavy, SILVER ( not aluminum ) brocade has developed a very pleasing, "bronze-like" patina over the years, but still grades as very good PLUS to EXCELLENT condition. The large KM buckle is in EXCELLENT condition. There is no mothing of the black wool-felt underlayment. NOTE: The Kriegsmarine "line" officers' brocade dress belt was identical in all respects to the "administrative" officers' brocade; being differentiated only by a GOLD buckle and gold furniture.

NICE, ALL ORIGINAL, WWII KRIEGSMARINE ADMIN. OFFICER'S BROCADE.

(144)  NAZI HEER, OR LUFTWAFFE, OFFICER'S BRN. LEATHER BELT WITH DOUBLE CLAW BUCKLE.

50 mm. wide, brown carriage leather, army ( or Luftwaffe ) officer's service uniform belt, approx. 100 cm. long, with a "pebbled", aluminum-painted, metal ( probably "pot metal", or "Kriegsmetall" ), "double-claw" buckle, which is not maker-marked, and is machine-stitched on.There is a double row of nine holes at the free end, for closure ( Photos ). The single brown leather slide is still present. The buckle retains almost 100% of its painted-aluminum finish ( Photos ), and the heavy carriage leather belt is still soft and pliable; and in overall very good condition, but would benefit from some neutral, or light brown, "Meltonian" shoe cream to look even better! This belt & buckle really shows just the right amount of age, and moderate wear, for display with a Wehrmacht ( Heer, or Luftwaffe ) officer's field service tunic.

AN OFTEN "HARD-TO-FIND" ACCESSORY FOR THAT HEER, OR LUFTWAFFE, OFFICER'S "COMPLETE" UNIFORM!!
