(483)  ALLGEMEINE-SS, BLACK SERVICE TUNIC ( "DIENSTROCK" ) FOR A SCHARFUEHRER OF THE 6TH COMPANY OF THE 71ST SS FOOT REGIMENT ( DANZIG ).

This original Allgemeine-SS sergeant's service tunic is constructed of the standard, or regulation, black wool uniform cloth for an other ranks' Allgemeine-SS man. This single-breasted "Dienstrock", or Allgemeine-SS service tunic, has a four button front, two chest "patch" pockets, two skirt "slash" pockets, and an open, lapel collar ( photo ). The chest pockets each have a center plait, or placket, and "scalloped" button-down flaps ( photo ); while the two, "slashed"-style, skirt pockets are hidden, but also have scalloped flaps, closed with pebbled aluminum buttons ( photo ). The upper portion of the tunic's back has a central, vertical seam, flanked on each side with a curvilinear seam ( photo ). The rear skirt has deep, center vent ( photo ), above which is located a pair of pebbled aluminum belt ramps, which are SS / RZM stamped ( photo ). Both sleeves have "French" style, turned-up cuffs ( photo ), and the left sleeve cuff has a blue-bordered SS cuffband, with the Arabic numeral "6", hand-embroidered in aluminum wire ( photo ). The blue border and the Arabic numeral "6" combination indicate that this Allgemeine-SS Scharfuehrer served in the 6th "Sturm" of the 71st SS Foot-Regiment ( based in Danzig ); and part of the 2nd SS "Sturmbann". The RZM-style cuffband is full-length, nicely folded-over at each end, and is expertly machine-sewn-on ( photo ). The upper right sleeve has a flat-silver wire "Ehrenwinkel", or "old-fighter's honor chevron", which is expertly hand-sewn-on ( photo ). The left upper sleeve has the regulation style, red wool-felt, Allgemeine-SS brassard, or SS "Kampfbinde", with double, black, ribbed moire-silk borders ( photo ). The armband is sewn closed on the inner part of the sleeve ( photo ), and "tacked-on" with black cotton thread ( photo ). The inside of the SS armband has a small, "BeVo" style, black SS / RZM cloth tag with the maker's "RZM" number, "21", and the year, "36" ( photo ). The right shoulder has the regulation Allgemeine-SS, other ranks' design shoulder board, consisting of four rows of alternating black and silver twisted cord, and attached with a pebbled aluminum button ( photo ). The open, lapel collar is completely bordered with alternating black and silver twisted-cord piping ( photo ), as are the right ( photo ), and left side ( photo )SS collar tabs. The right-side collar tab has the Arabic numeral "71" ( SS-FUSS STANDARTE-71" ) which is meticulously hand-embroidered in aluminum wire bullion ( photo ). The left lapel has an SS rank tab with a single strip of silver & black SS "Litzen", and a single, RZM-style ( and SS / RZM marked ) aluminum "pip" ( photo ), whose two, flat metal prongs pierce the collar, and are "folded-over" on the collar's verso ( photo ). Both collar tabs are hand-sewn-on ( photo ). The alternating black / silver twisted- cord piping around the collar and the piping around both collar tabs have the same, or MATCHING ( left-to-right )"twist". The tunic is fully-lined with a ( faded ) black cotton muslin material ( photo ), while the inside of both sleeves is lined with a white faux-silk material, with a "mattress-ticking"-like striped design ( photo ). The lining of the left upper sleeve has several, variegated ink stamps and markings ( photo ), which probably represent post-war, Soviet museum identification markings, and inventory control stampings. The interior of the left chest inside pocket has the remnants of a faded white cotton, or oilcloth, "SS / RZM" tag which is loosely attached with a "basting" stitch ( photo ). The four pebbled aluminum front buttons, and the four ( smaller diameter ) pocket flap buttons, are ALL "SS / RZM" marked ( photo ), as are the two belt ramp "buttons", located above the rear vent; while the aluminum belt "hooks", on each side, are unmarked ( photo ). There is no size marking present, but I would "guesstimate" the size to be around a "38-40". The SS brassard shows light soiling and "wear", and has some minor mothing ( photo ), but there is NO mothing anywhere on the tunic proper, that I can see, and the overall condition of this FINE example of an ALL-ORIGINAL, Allgemeine-SS "Dienstrock" is a strong "EXCELLENT"!

EXCELLENT, ALL-ORIGINAL, ALLGEMEINE-SS "DIENSTROCK" ( ca. 1936 ); FOR AN SS-SCHARFUEHRER IN STURMBANN II, SS FUSS-REGIMENT 71 ( "DANZIG" ), STURM 6.

(480)  MODEL 1942, WAFFEN-SS, FOUR-POCKET TUNIC FOR AN ENLISTED MAN IN THE 4TH SS-VOLUNTEER-PANZER-GRENADIER BRIGADE "NEDERLAND" ( 4.SS-FREIWILLIGEN-PANZER-GRENADIER-BRIGADE "NEDERLAND" ).

This Dutch-SS volunteer brigade was formed, in October, 1943, from the surviving members of the former "SS-Freiwilligen-Legion-Niederlande", which was disbanded in the spring of that year. This M42 pattern, combat syle tunic is constructed of course gray-green wool, with a closed collar, a five button front, and four, unplaited "patch" pockets, with straight ( unscalloped ) pocket-flaps ( photo ). The MATCHING, "slip-on"-style shoulder straps, for an SS-Mann ( Private ), are made of black wool-felt, with gray-green wool tongues ( photo ), and are piped in WHITE "rayon" ( The "Waffenfarbe" for Infantry troops ) ( photo ). The M42 style, gray-green wool collar is closed with a "hook & eye" ( photo ), ( photo ). The right collar has the German-made ( so-called "Dachau-style" ) SS collar tab with a machine-woven silver-gray thread, horizontal "Wolfsangel" insigne ( photo ), which is machine-stitched-on ( photo ). The left collar tab, or SS "rank" tab, is plain black wool-felt ( photo ), and also machine-stitched to the collar ( photo ). The left upper sleeve has a "BeVo" type, SS-design, eagle and swastika insigne ( photo ), which is machine-sewn-on ( photo ). The left lower sleeve has the machine-woven, "Dachau-style", Dutch-SS sleeve shield with orange, white, and pale-blue horizontal bars ( photo ), which is machine-sewn-on also ( photo ). Immediately below the Dutch volunteer sleeve shield, there is a full-length, "BeVo"-style SS cuffband, "NEDERLAND" ( photo ), which is machine-stitched-on ( photo ). The inside of the tunic is partially-lined with a light-gray, faux-"satin" ( photo ). Both sleeves are unlined. There are actually THREE distinctly different types of material used in the manufacture of the lining. The lining of both underarm gussets and the versos of all four pocket flaps is more of a BEIGE colored faux-"satin" ( photo ), and the side vents on each cuff have a gray cotton muslin material used to line one-half of the vent(s). There are four, faux-"satin" belt hook suspenders ( photo ); each with four "marrowed" holes. The tunic itself has two "marrowed" belt hook holes on each side ( photo ). The usual bandage pocket is present inside the right skirt. The lining is moderately soiled, and there are a few, minor tears present, but the overall condition of the tunic's lining is still "VERY GOOD +". The front closure, pocket buttons, and epaulet buttons are all gray-green-painted, pebbled Zinc, and exhibit some wear ( photo ). There is no significant mothing, or damage, to the tunic's exterior, and the overall condition of this RARE, ORIGINAL Dutch SS-volunteer's tunic is "VERY GOOD +". I would "guesstimate" the tunic's size to be "38-40".

(479)  ORIGINAL, MODEL 1944, WAFFEN-SS "PEA-PATTERN" ( "ERBSENMUSTER" ) CAMOUFLAGE, FOUR-POCKET COMBAT TUNIC.

This four-pocket, open-collar style, Waffen-SS combat tunic, introduced in the spring of 1944, is factory-constructed of a camouflage-printed, linen / rayon blend, commonly referred to as "HBT", or "Herring-bone Twill" ( photo ). The silk-screened, or printed, camouflage pattern, officially identified as "Erbsenmuster", or "pea-pattern", was developed, along with pants of the same pattern, to function as an "all seasons"-camouflaged, combat uniform, in contrast to the previously developed Waffen-SS camouflage uniforms and helmet covers, which had a fully reversible "autumn" and "spring" camouflage pattern. This 100% ORIGINAL example has the appropriate, distinct, "three shades" of green identifiable in the printed camouflage scheme ( photo ). The short, "open" collar does not have SS collar tabs ( photo ), which is almost always the case, and has a metal "hook-and-eye" type of closure ( photo ). There are provisions for "slip-on" style shoulder straps, with factory sewn-in, ( camouflage ) cloth strips on each shoulder ( photo ), along with paired, pebbled-zinc epaulet buttons. The matching, ORIGINAL, black, Waffen-SS shoulder straps ( photo ), are piped in LIME-GREEN "rayon" ( The "Waffenfarbe" for both Heer, and Waffen-SS, Panzergrenadier troops )( photo ), and, although an original pair, were probably added post-war, as they do not show the same degree of age and usage as the jacket. The four "patch" pockets consist of two chest pockets, and two skirt pockets ( photo ), with fully-lined, unscalloped flaps and pebbled-zinc buttons ( photo ). The left upper sleeve has a machine-embroidered, off-white cotton, on black wool-felt, SS pattern sleeve eagle ( photo ), which is ( PERIOD ) machine-"ZIG-ZAG"-stitched-on with black cotton thread ( photo ). The front of the jacket has five, pebbled-zinc buttons which show an appropriate amount of age and wear ( photo ), which is consistent with the age and wear of the epaulet and pocket buttons ( photo ). The two pairs of belt hook holes, have factory-machine-stiched, "marrowed" edges ( photo ). The inside of the tunic is partially-lined in a somewhat shiny, gray faux-"satin" material ( photo ), with underarm gusset sweat-shields ( photo ), and a "bandage-pocket", inside the right skirt ( photo ). Both belt hook suspenders are made of the same faux-"satin" material ( photo ). Examination of the "inverted", machine-stitched, vertical back seam, reveals a distinct "selvedge" pattern ( photo ), found only on the margins of a ( PERIOD ) factory "bolt" of camouflage-printed, HBT-fabric. There is a PERIOD-mended, small "tear" in the right lower back area, and some scattered areas of "high-wear", including the inside nape of the collar ( photo ). The "pea-pattern" camouflage motif colors are moderately, and uniformly "faded" ( probably from washing ) ( photo ), but nothing fluoresces, or "glows", under UV-light ( "blacklight" ) examination. The overall condition of this rare, ORIGINAL M44, Waffen-SS, "pea-pattern", or "dot-pattern", camouflage tunic still grades as "Used, VERY GOOD".

(472)  BLACK, WAFFEN-SS PANZER UNTERSCHARFUEHRER'S "WRAP-AROUND" STYLE JACKET.

This "wrap-around" style jacket, or "wrapper", was probably privately-tailored, of a good quality black wool, in the traditional pattern for the SS-PANZER, or so-called "SS-cut", with the archetypal SS-style lapel collar, and SS design front closure ( photo ). Consistent with the traditional SS pattern of wrapper, there is NO "back-seam" per se, but there are two PERIOD, parallel, machine-stitched seams which run vertically up the back of the jacket, from the lower hem to the back of the collar, and the top of the right shoulder ( photo ). These seams are expertly machine-sewn, and, when viewed from the inside of the wrapper ( photo ), are consistent with a PERIOD alteration, or repair, in which a 2-3.5 inch-wide panel of perfectly-matching black wool was added to the back, presumably to replace a fairly large torn, or otherwise damaged, section of the right side of the back ( photo ). The lapel collars are made in the SS style, with nicely rounded points ( photo ), and the vertical front closure is more "centrally" located ( photo ), in contrast to the HEER-style Panzer wrapper. The right collar tab has machine-woven, grey cotton sigrunes, on a black wool-felt backing ( photo ), and is machine-stitched-on ( photo ). The MATCHING black wool-felt "rank" tab is machine-sewn to the left collar, and has a single, silver-washed, brass "pip" ( photo ), which is attached by two flat, metal prongs, which pierce the collar, and are visible on the underside of the left collar ( photo ). The "slip-on" style, black wool-felt epaulets are bordered with a 1.0 cm.-wide, "subdued"-aluminum tresse, with a light-pink ( The "Waffenfarbe" for Panzer, or armoured troops ) "rayon" piping ( photo ). The tresse is not present on the open ends of the epaulets, indicating the rank of a Waffen-SS "Unterscharfuehrer", or Buck-Sargent. The grey-on-black, machine-woven, SS pattern sleeve eagle is machine ( "ZIG-ZAG" ) stitched to the left upper sleeve ( photo ). The jacket is partially lined in a black, faux-satin material ( photo ), with a left breast inside pocket. All of the black "Bakelite" buttons appear to be present ( photo ). There is one pair of medal loops on the lower left breast area ( photo ), probably for attachment of the wearer's Panzer qualification badge. There is a FAINT, circumferential "ghost image", visible about 5 inches above the bottom of the left sleeve cuff, which is consistent with an SS cuffband having been present at one time, and subsequently removed ( photo ). There are few, scattered, TINY, moth holes which are difficult to find on a cursory inspection, and a few, VERY MINOR "rents", and "snags" in the back of the jacket, but the OVERALL condition of this well-tailored, private-purchase, ALL-ORIGINAL, Waffen-SS PANZER black "wrapper" is still a strong "VERY GOOD + ".

(470)  RARE, ORIGINAL, PINK-PIPED, WAFFEN-SS PANZER UNTERSCHARFUEHRER'S BLACK "WRAP-AROUND" STYLE JACKET; WITH A 9TH SS-PANZER DIVISION, "HOHENSTAUFEN", CUFFBAND.

This "wrap-around" style jacket, or "wrapper", is factory-sewn of a medium-quality black wool in the SS PATTERN, or so-called "SS-cut", with the rounded collar points ( photo ), more centrally-placed front closure ( photo ), and the absence of a back seam ( photo ). The entire collar is piped in a HOT-PINK, wool-felt ( photo ), which was machine-sewn-in at the factory, at the same time the edge of the collar was hemed ( photo ), and clearly not added later. The MATCHING SS collar tabs are both piped in HOT PINK wool-felt also ( photo ). The right-side collar has a machine-woven, gray cotton, double runic collar tab, which is piped in HOT-PINK wool-felt ( photo ), and machine-sewn-on ( photo ). The left collar has a MATCHING, pink-piped, SS-"rank" collar tab, with a single, aluminum "pip", indicating the wearer's rank to be that of an SS "Unterscharfuehrer", or lance-corporal ( photo ). The collar tab is machine-stitched-on, and the aluminum "pip" is attached to the collar with two, flat metal prongs, which pierce the collar itself ( photo ). The matching, "slip-on" style shoulder straps have a "subdued" aluminum tresse border ( photo ), are also piped in the same HOT PINK, wool-felt ( photo ). The SS pattern sleeve eagle is the machine-woven type, and is machine ( "ZIG-ZAG" ) stitched to the left upper sleeve ( photo ). An ORIGINAL, "BeVo" type, "HOHENSTAUFEN" SS cuffband is nicely machine-sewn to the left lower sleeve ( photo ), but I believe this was probably "restored" to the tunic post-war ( photo ). There is a slightly-soiled, original, EK II ribbon hand-sewn to the top buttonhole on the left lapel collar, which certainly appears to have been PERIOD-done ( photo ). All of the original, black "Bakelite" buttons appear to be present ( photo ). The jacket is partially lined, in the usual fashion, with the typical, gray-cotton muslin material ( photo ), with an unlined back ( photo ), and the typical belt hook suspenders ( photo ), black wool tabs ( photo ), and cloth ties ( photo ). There are bilateral inside pockets ( photo ), and there is a factory, or SS clothing depot, ink stamp, located just above the left-side inside pocket, which is a constellation of five ( two-digit )numbers ( photo ), one of which probably indicates the year of manufacture, "43" ( 1943 ). There is one pair of metal loops on the left chest ( photo ), probably for attachment of the wearer's Panzer forces qualification, or "tank", badge. I would "guesstimate" the tunic size to be 38-40. There are a few scattered, TINY moth "nips" and some very superficial moth "tracking", and a couple of expertly-done ( PERIOD ) "mends", but the overall condition of this RARE, original, SS-PANZER Unterscharfuehrer's "wrapper" is still "VERY GOOD ++", to "low-EXCELLENT".

VERY RARE, ORIGINAL, PINK-PIPED, SS-PANZER UNTERSCHARFUEHRER'S "WRAP-AROUND" STYLE JACKET; WITH A PROBABLE POST-WAR REPLACED, 100% ORIGINAL, "BEVO", 9TH SS PANZER DIV., "HOHENSTAUFEN", CUFFBAND.

(469)  VERY RARE, ALL-ORIGINAL, "WRAP-AROUND" STYLE JACKET FOR AN OTHER RANKS' ( "STURMMANN" ) ASSAULT GUNNER IN THE 17TH WAFFEN-SS PANZERGRENADIER DIVISION; "GOTZ VON BERLICHINGEN"; ca. 1943-1945.

This SS-PANZER, "wrapper", or wrap-around style jacket is factory-made of grayish-green ( "Feldgrau" ) coarse wool in the archetypal Waffen-SS pattern, or so-called "SS-cut", with the SS-style collar and front closure, and the absence of a vertical rear seam ( photo ). The "slip-on" type, black-wool, shoulder straps are piped in RED ( the "Waffenfarbe" for assault-gun artillery troops ) wool-felt ( photo ). There is a machine-woven, ( soiled ) off-white cotton SS runic tab ( photo ) machine-stitched to the right, "SS-cut" shawl collar ( photo ). The left collar tab is a black wool-felt parallelogram, with a single strand of silver "litzen", and is also machine-sewn-on ( photo ). The silver "litzen" was PERIOD hand-sewn-on AFTER the blank wool collar tab was machine-stitched to the collar ( photo ), undoubtedly when this SS-Mann was promoted to SS-Sturmmann. The machine-embroidered SS sleeve eagle is machine ( "ZIG-ZAG" )-stitched to the left upper sleeve ( photo ). Immediately below the SS sleeve eagle there is an SS pattern ( gray litzen on black wool-felt ) SS ( private's ) "Winkel", which is hand-sewn-on ( photo ). The "BeVo"-style "Gotz von Berlichingen" SS cuffband is machine-stitched to the left lower sleeve, six inches above the cuff hem ( photo ). The "GvB" cuff title is "frayed" ( photo ), and a 2.75 inch-long segment is missing on the inside of the sleeve ( photo ), and there is an OLD, rather crude", ( PERIOD ) mend present here also ( photo ). "BONE-COLORED" cotton thread was used throughout in the construction of this "wrapper" ( photo ). Most of the "nap" is ( uniformly ) worn from the surface of this once-"scratchy", coarse wool, giving it a rather "smooth" texture ( photo ), and there are some "high-wear" areas where this is more pronounced ( photo ). There is evidence of a few resewn buttons ( photo ), and there are several, scattered, minor ( PERIOD ) repairs, and "mends" ( photo ), but the exterior condition of this very rare, AUTHENTIC, "un-messed-with", SS assault gunner's "wrapper" is "Heavily-used, aged; GOOD ++". The jacket is PARTIALLY-lined in a somewhat "shiny", gray faux-satin, with an inside pocket on the wearer's left side( photo ). An extra metal snap was added ( probably by the wearer ) to secure the breast pocket's opening. There is a cluster of six weakly ink-stamped Arabic numerals present just above this left breast pocket ( photo ). The inside of the back of the jacket is unlined, and there are a few ( PERIOD ) "mended" areas present here. The overall condition of the jacket's interior, and lining, is "Used, GOOD ++", to "VERY GOOD".

N.B. : The 17th Waffen-SS Panzergrenadier Division, "GOTZ VON BERLICHINGEN", formed in October, 1943, was involved in heavy fighting in the American ( NORMANDY ) sector from 10 June, 1944, until September, and participated greatly in the "GvB" Division's valiant, but failed, attempt to hold, and later recapture ( from the 101st Airborne Division ) the important Normandy town, Carenten.

(248)  RARE, ORIGINAL, SS-FALLSCHIRMJAEGER "EICHENLAUBMUSTER" CAMOUFLAGE SMOCK.

This PERIOD-MADE, SS-paratrooper, "jump smock" is made of the "EICHENLAUBMUSTER", or "OAKLEAF" pattern, "duck" material, in the design of a "standard", LUFTWAFFE paratrooper smock, with the four, zippered pockets, flare pistol "holster", and the elongated "skirt", which is closable, under the crotch, with metal press studs ( Photo ). This ULTRA-RARE, ORIGINAL, SS jump smock "turned- up", in Germany, in 1995, from a former tailor, who owned, and operated, a "cottage-industry" scale, tailoring company, which used "conscript" workers, ( a euphemism for "slave laborers" ), "recruited" from German-occupied territories. The quality of the construction, and "tailoring", is FAR ABOVE that which one would expect in a so-called "field-made" smock. Furthermore, the careful attention to certain details of the construction, leads one to conclude that piece was "cut", before assembly, from definite "patterns", or templates ( Photo ). Also, the presence of a wide, back-seam, "SELVEDGE" ( Photo ), confirms that the various pieces of "duck" camouflage material, were cut from a "BOLT", and NOT derived from a "disassembled", oak leaf pattern, Waffen-SS "shelter-half". The four large cargo pockets have nickle zipper "pulls", with ERSATZ LEATHER "tabs", covered with brown PAPER ( Photo ). The undersides of four of the six MATCHING nickle, zipper pulls are marked with a "1"(Photo), while the two, on the right "skirt" pocket, are marked "2" ( Photo ). All of the "female" portions of the metal press studs are marked " S.H.B." ( Photo ). Some of the "male" press stud buttons display OLD RUST, which has "bled" into the camouflage material ( Photo ). The underside of the collar is heavily REINFORCED with a "zig-zag", machine-stitching ( Photo ). The sleeve attachments have a hemmed "binding" of a beige colored rayon. Both underarms are "vented", and also have six, crudely HAND-SEWN, randomly placed "air holes" on each side ( Photo ). There also some crudely "mended" areas ( with "pink" thread! ) in the same area ( Photo ). There are three, large, GRAY "glass buttons" in the front front, which are "concealed" when buttoned ( Photo ). The right-sided, external, flare pistol "holster" has two black-painted, "dished-out", metal buttons which secure the flap ( Photo ). None of the buttonholes have "marrowed" edges ( Photo ). There are three, crudely hand-sewn, belt hook holes, present on each side of the smock. The four large cargo pockets are constructed of a durable, off-white, sacking material ( Photo ). The right side, lower, pocket lining is ink-stamped, with what appears to be a faded, arabic numeral "3" ( Photo ). There appears to be a faint "ghost image" of an SS SLEEVE EAGLE, on the upper right sleeve ( Photo ). Although the workmanship on the smock is somewhat poor compared to a "factory-made" smock, the type of construction is consistent with the piece's history, and provenance. Moreover, it is very interesting to note that the "EICHENLAUBMUSTER" camouflage pattern "LINES-UP" perfectly, where the two halves are sewn together, at the back seam ( Photo ); and, even more amazing, the camouflage "pattern" also "LINES-UP" perfectly when the front of the smock is buttoned !!! ( Photo ). I refuse to believe that this was "accidental", or merely "coincidental"! The smock definitely shows NATURAL age, slight wear, and a few PERIOD "mends", but there are NO rips, or tears, and the overall condition is still "USED", VERY GOOD PLUS.

(251)  RARE, ORIGINAL, WEHRMACHT, OR WAFFEN SS, TWO-PIECE, WINTER CAMOUFLAGE SNOW SUIT ( "SCHNEEANZUGE" ).

This oversized, "shapeless", two-piece, WINTER CAMOUFLAGE uniform, or "snow suit", is made of thin, STARK WHITE, "HBT" cotton, and consists of a loose-fitting, white "jacket", with a large, integral hood, and a pair of oversized, "baggy" pants ( Photo ). Both pieces were intended for wear OVER the Wehrmacht, or Waffen-SS, soldier's regular winter uniform. The jacket has a front closure, with three white, cardboard buttons ( Photo ). The inside hem of the right side of the jacket is size marked with an ink-stamped "I" ( Photo ), and also "RB" numbered ( Photo ). The "spacious", and extra long sleeves, were designed to be "rolled-up" to fit the individual proportions, or combat situation, of the wearer, and, are only "hemmed" at the ends, with no buttons, or drawstrings ( Photo ). Both upper sleeves have two, factory-sewn, white "paper", or cardboard, buttons, to permit the quick and easy "change" of a one-inch wide, COLORED, "identifacation" armband ( Photo ). These narrow, detachable, and easily changed, cotton arm "bands" came in a variety of colors, and were a security measure, to distinquish "friendly" white camouflage uniforms, from those of the enemy. There is a large, machine-hemmed, "opening", on each side of the jacket to permit easy access to "ammo" pouches, or other field gear, worn on the leather service belt ( Photo ). The oversized, integral hood was made large enough to fit over the steel hemet. The excessively sized, "baggy", white pants have a cloth "drawstring" at the waist ( Photo ), and at the bottom of each pant leg ( Photo ). The pants also have two, factory-machine-hemmed, diagonal "slits", or side openings, to allow access to the wearer's regular winter uniform pants ( Photo ). The right side of the waistband is ink-stamped "M 42" ( Photo ). The condition of the white cotton "jacket" is EXCELLENT PLUS. The condition of the pants is about VERY GOOD, due to some light soiling, and a few "dark" stains ( ? "ink" ) on the left leg ( Photo ). However, there are no rips, or tears, or other defects present. NOTE: This "TWO-PIECE" ensemble was a direct "vet" pick-up, from a New England area hotel buying campaign, or "sweep".
