RARE, ORIGINAL, WW II, USMC, REVERSIBLE,
CAMOUFLAGED PARATROOPER ( "PARAMARINE" ) SMOCK.
This original, WW II,
U.S. MARINE CORPS, reversible camouflage, paratrooper jump smock was intended for use by Marine
paratroops, or "PARAMARINES", in the South Pacific ( photo ). The "step-in" style smock is constructed of a
double-side, camouflage-printed, sturdy, HERRINGBONE-TWILL ( photo ), which is reversible ( photo ).
The "summer" side has two shades of BROWN and two shades of GREEN, irregular-shaped splotches, on a
PALE-GREEN background ( photo ), while the "autumn" camouflage pattern consists of two shades of
BROWN and COCOA-colored splotches, on a NEUTRAL, or pale beige, background ( photo ). The elbow
areas of both sleeves are reinforced with large, oval, elbow-pads ( photo ). The front closure is
by means of blackened brass press studs ( photo ). There are bilateral, vertically-slit, side
pockets which have an internal zipper closure ( photo ), and a rectangular pocket-flap, with three
blackened brass press studs ( photo ). Brass zipper pulls are maker-marked,"TALON" ( photo ). The
size, "38", is faintly ink-stamped, in two locations, on the "autumn" side of the camouflage
material ( photo ). There is a brown stain in the crotch area ( photo ), and a one tiny hole in the
herringbone twill ( photo ), but the overall condition of this VERY RARE, ORIGINAL, WW II, US
"PARAMARINE", reversible camouflage smock, is still VERY GOOD +.
